Preventive Care · Greenwich Village, NYC
Stay ahead of your health. Our preventive care program is designed to catch problems early, keep you well, and build a long-term relationship with a physician who knows you.
Regular preventive care is the foundation of long-term health. Many serious conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers, are far more manageable when caught early. At Village Park Medical, we take the time to understand your full health picture and build a proactive plan that keeps you well.
Beyond the annual physical, we partner with our patients throughout the year for follow-up care, lab review, and health goal check-ins. Our physicians are your long-term health partners.
Preventive care works best as part of a broader primary care relationship. If you prefer to see a provider remotely, telehealth visits are available for new and existing patients.
Most adults should have a physical exam once a year. Your provider may recommend more frequent visits based on your age, health history, and risk factors. The yearly visits serve multiple functions, including age-related health screening, reviewing your records, and fostering a strong connection between the provider and the patient, which helps optimize our ability to assess and manage new medical issues that can come up.
Almost all insurances cover an annual check-up (for Medicare, this is referred to as a well-visit, and is a bit different than a routine physical). Contact our office to confirm that your insurance covers this, if you have any concern regarding coverage.
Typically on a physical or check-up, we would check blood pressure, immunizations, mental health and/or depression screening, a physical exam (checking your heart, lungs, etc.), and age-related cancer screening when appropriate. However, what we check depends on the patient, and each patient has a different history, in terms of family history, risks, exposures, illnesses, etc., that need to be taken into consideration when deciding what screening is needed. This is precisely why it is important to see a primary care doctor who knows you and your medical history.
